Celebrating 25 years of experience and passion

About Us
Centre Equestre de Riambel has been created in 1999 with the aim of rescuing horses after racing.
It is a non profitable association which shelters also some rescued stray dogs.
We started with one horse in 1999 and today cater for 15 ex racing horses and 5 ponies.
We are also a riding club that gives the opportunity to residents to learn horse riding.
Most of our staff are youngsters from humble background from the village nearby. We train them and give them employment, therefore also having a social impact on our environment. We are actually sponsoring 2 of our staff who participate in national jumping competition.
Mauritius has the second oldest racing track in the world and the oldest racing track in the Southern Hemisphere. With more that 210 years of history, horse racing forms part of Mauritian culture.
Unfortunately, most racing horses are euthanised after their career in Mauritius, if they do not find a second home. Caring for horses is very expensive in Mauritius as everything for horses is imported: from food to equipment.
When you ride with us, not only will you experience an amazing riding experience on an untouched beach, but you help us care for retired horses and sustain local employment.
